The son of soccer legend Pele was arrested yesterday in an operation to dismantle a drugs gang in Brazil.
Edson Cholbi Nascimento, 35, was held with 50 other people after an eight-month investigation into a cocaine-trafficking operation in Santos, 70km south-east of Sao Paulo, a police spokesman said.
No charges had been filed against Nascimento, but he was detained in Sao Paulo on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The spokesman said Nascimento would be questioned and that charges could be filed as soon as the operation concluded. Nascimento was a reserve goalkeeper for eight years at Santos, Pele's former club.
He retired from professional soccer in 1999.
