New Zealand were undone by two quick counter-attacking goals to go down 1-2 to hosts South Korea in a Peace Queen Cup women's soccer tournament match in Suwon on Saturday.
Kirsty Yallop struck in the 13th minute to give New Zealand a 1-0 lead at halftime as New Zealand dominated the first half and much of the second.
"South Korea scored two very good goals from two very good moves," New Zealand coach John Herdman said. "I think it's fair to say we ran out of steam, but we can take some real positives out of tonight."
New Zealand were due to face South American champions Argentina overnight and Canada tomorrow.
