KEY POINTS:
Newly named New Zealand Football has announced a $189,000 dollar loss for the 2006 financial year.
The annual congress in Auckland has also approved a change to the code's name from New Zealand Soccer.
CEO Graham Seatter said it is disappointing to record a loss, but it is not major considering their significant activity. He said they spent close to $8 million dollars in 2006 compared to $4.4 million in 2005.
As for the name change, Seatter describes it as common sense for the organisation to change its name.
The name change was released at the governing body's 117th annual congress in Auckland and now leaves the USA as the only known country to call the code soccer.
Seatter added football is the name of the game around the world and that's what it needs to be called.
He said the sport has a bit of momentum and it's appropriate to use a name which is associated with a successful code.
