A West Sydney-based A-League team looks set to be announced this afternoon.
In a statement this morning, Football Federation Australia confirmed "deliberations about the establishment of a new Community Club representing Western Sydney in the Hyundai A-League have advanced significantly in the past few days".
A statement will be issued by the FFA "in relation to the latest developments" at 4.15pm New Zealand time.
The Sydney Daily Telegraph reported the new club has already been signed off and will be up and running in a few days, according to sources close to the project.
The Telegraph understands funding for the club will come from within FFA resources.
The prospect of another Sydney-based A-League team could be enough to lure former Socceroo Scott Chipperfield to play in Australia.
