The Argentinian side Excursionistas are set to offer Diego Maradona another chance to grace the soccer pitch.
Maradona has expressed his interest in playing in the Argentinian lower leagues in a recent TV interview and Excursionistas, who play in the fourth division of domestic football in the country, are set to discuss a deal with the 45-year-old.
"I'd like to play in a club of Primera C or D, because there's not too much pressure as they are semi-professional divisions," the Argentinian legend said.
The Primera C side want Maradona to play in the final stages of the Apertura tournament and the club president Armando Mainoli admitted that he would relish signing him.
"When we watched the repetition of that interview some days ago, we had the idea immediately.
We want to include Maradona in the official squad," he said.
"We'd be totally proud of seeing Diego wearing our shirt."Excursionistas will make their debut in the Apertura tournament in the final stage against Lamadrid on 4 February and will have nine games left until the end of the championship.
Maradona last played a match for Boca Juniors on 25 October 1997.
