An injury-time volley from midfielder Alex Feneridis saw Auckland City steal a 1-1 draw with arch-rivals Waitakere City in their O-League soccer match in Auckland today.
In a niggly match which saw five yellow cards dished out inside an hour - three to Auckland City - tight defence from both teams meant they went into the halftime break in a scoreless deadlock.
That continued until the 82nd minute, when Waitakere's Roy Krishna latched onto a well-placed cross-field ball from Chris Bale to hit a low shot past Auckland keeper Jacob Spoonley.
That looked to be enough until 21-year-old Feneridis
volleyed home the equaliser from the edge of the box in the 92nd minute.
In the weekend's second group B match, AS Magenta accounted for Tefana 1-0 in Noumea yesterday. In group A action, Fijian side Lautoko downed Amicale 1-0 in Ba, Fiji, while the defending champions, Papua New Guinea's Hekari United, overwhelmed Koloale 4-0 in Port Moresby.
