Soccer: Kingz to be paid 'by Friday'

Monday became Wednesday and now it has become Friday in the Football Kingz wages woes.

Chairman Chris Turner yesterday assured his players that the club would meet pay demands before tomorrow night's game against the Melbourne Knights at North Harbour Stadium.

"It is quite simple," said Turner as the saga rolled on. "The players haven't been paid but we are absolutely determined they will be by Friday.

"The players fully understand the situation the club has found itself in and are being positive in looking forward to Friday's game. It [the non-payment of wages] is not an issue with the players.

"We always knew that under the terms of the contracts with our main sponsors, the money would not come in to the club until January. We had an arrangement in place to cover the cashflow but unfortunately there has been a hiccup. We are sorting that out."
