Soccer: Kingz fall short

Australian soccer league champions Wollongong Wolves survived the last 20 minutes a player short to beat the Auckland-based Football Kingz 1-0 in Christchurch.

Defender George Souris received his second yellow card for a robust tackle in the 25th minute of the second half and was sent for an early shower by referee Ian Walker.

The Kingz, weakened by illness and injury to key players, threw caution to the wind and did everything but score.
