The New Zealand under-20 football side were beaten by Iraq 5-3 in an Under-20 World Cup warm-up in Antalya overnight (NZT) only 24 hours after arriving in Turkey.
The Under-20 World Cup opens in a week - the Junior All Whites have been drawn in the same group as Uzbekistan, Uruguay and Croatia - and the result against Iraq comes on the back of their 5-0 defeat to Australia earlier this week.
They will have a final warm-up game against Egypt on Tuesday (NZT) in Antalya before moving to their team base in Bursa.
The Junior All Whites started strongly against Iraq, with Team Wellington striker Hamish Watson giving them a lead inside three minutes, but they conceded two goals in three second-half minutes. Luke Adams and Louis Fenton scored the other goals for New Zealand.
The second half started with some unwanted off-field distractions when Uruguay dropped into the Mardan Sports Complex for their scheduled training session and took in some of the match from the stands before being asked to leave the stadium.
