It's only 18 days into 2012 but Nottingham Forest striker Robbie Findley has possibly produced the miss of the year in a FA Cup third round replay against Leicester this morning.
With a cross sent into the six-yard box Leicester goalie Kasper Schmeichel tipped the ball down straight into the path of the US international who had an open goal to aim at from less than two metres away.
Instead he rushed a volley attempt and sent his shot well over the crossbar for an embarrassing miss to continue his goal drought this season where he has scored just twice from 19 appearances.
The shocker came just three minutes after Findley's teammate George Boateng handed Leicester the lead with an own-goal and it only got worse for the Championship side who are struggling to get out of the relegation zone.
Leicester's Jermaine Beckford scored a hat-trick to cap off a 4-0 win to eliminate Forest from the FA Cup.
