Sydney FC's Vitezslav Lavicka was named coach of the year by Australia's Professional Footballers Association yesterday, out-polling Wellington's Ricki Herbert and Melbourne's Ernie Merrick.
The Czech born former Sparta Prague coach received 66 votes in a poll of A-League players, ahead of Herbert with 30 and Merrick with 29.
