Former soccer international Danny Hay has been appointed captain of the Auckland-based Football Kingz.
Hay, 28, joined the Australian league club on a three-year contract last December after playing for Leeds and Walsall, among others, in England.
He has also made himself available again for international duty for the All Whites.
The 1.95m centre back, who played 20 times for New Zealand, retired from international soccer in July last year after a series of injuries kept him sidelined for long periods in England.
Hay was Australian league player of the year in 1997, when he played for Perth Glory.
