Olympic Sharks goalkeeper Clint Bolton was in sparkling form in Sunday's top-of-the-table win over Perth Glory.
In a replay of last year's grand final, the Sharks beat the west Australians 2-1 in Sydney to stretch their lead to an ominous five points.
But for several class saves by Bolton, Perth could have been comfortably ahead at halftime and the NSL's top goalscorer, Damian Mori, on a hat-trick.
Instead, the teams turned at 0-0. The home side went ahead with a long-range shot from Ante Milicic, but the visitors hit back with a Brad Hassell header.
Mori had a late chance for Perth but his shot hit the post and Jeromy Harris grabbed the winner.
A late flurry at Adelaide's Hindmarsh Stadium left the home side and Northern Spirit level 1-1.
John Hutchinson grabbed the 89th-minute equaliser for the Sydneysiders after Adelaide City Force had gone ahead six minutes earlier through Michael Valkanis.
South Melbourne beat Marconi Stallions 1-0 at home, their fourth win in five outings and enough to lift them into the top six.
Melbourne Knights beat Sydney United 3-2 at home. United finished the game with nine men after Damon Collina and Gabriel Mendez were sent off. The winner came 12 minutes from the end through Adrian Cervinski.
In the other 10th round match, Newcastle United found some winning away form with a 4-1 win at Parramatta. Joel Griffiths' two goals made him joint top scorer with Mori.
