New Zealand goalkeeper Jake Gleeson made a series of quality saves in his first Major League Soccer (MLS) start for the Portland Timbers in their 1-1 draw with the New England Revolution on Sunday (NZT).
Gleeson, 20, who started the match after the club's top two goalkeepers were ruled out with injuries, made decisive saves early in the match to keep the scores level, but was helpless to keep out a volley from Stephen McCarthy after the Timbers failed to clear a corner.
Elsewhere, Michael Boxall, who made his debut for the All Whites in their 1-1 draw in China last month, featured as the Vancouver Whitecaps came from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Sporting Kansas City.
Fellow international defender Andrew Boyens also played 90 minutes in Chivas USA's 1-1 draw with Toronto.
