Former England football star Paul Gascoigne has reportedly signed a deal to play for the Football Kingz.
Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper said the former England international had accepted a temporary deal with the Kingz in a bid to regain fitness for a planned move to United States side DC United in January. One of the top attacking midfield players of the modern era, 35-year-old Gascoigne was plagued by off-field problems. He was kicked off England's 1998 World Cup side for hard drinking.
Last night Kingz chief executive Chris Turner denied the report.
He said the club was two months ago offered a "so-called superstar" to make some guest appearances but would not say whether that player was Gascoigne.
"We have not signed, and are not signing Paul Gascoigne."
