LYON - French champions Olympique Lyon were still celebrating a 2-0 win at Auxerre when they had the fright of their lives as their plane was forced to make an emergency landing early on Monday.
"A stewardess, who suffered a wrist injury, was the only casualty but some players are still in shock or complaining of pains in their ribs," a club spokesman told reporters.
The team was in an ATR 42 jet approaching Lyon airport.
The spokesman said: "The landing was so hard that the plane's wheels exploded and a wing was seriously damaged."
