Galatasaray fans were so desperate to watch their side's Champions League away leg against Schalke yesterday that they tried to dig their way into the stadium.
Tickets were scarce for the away fans at the 79,000 capacity Veltins-Arena with some going for €1,000 before the match.
According to reports a number of Turkish fans were caught trying to dig through frozen ground to get under a perimeter fence.
Schalke's sporting director Horst Heldt confirmed the report.
"Yes, that's right. Some supporters have tried to dig a tunnel with their bare hands," he told the Guardian.
