Central maintained their five-match winning run with a 2-0 victory at Papatoetoe with Rory Kelly and Dave Richmond breaking the 0-0 halftime impasse.
Metro, with another brace from in-form Maksim Manko, also won away, beating Hamilton Wanderers 3-0 to stay third. Ellerslie, 3-0 home winners over Matamata Swifts, are the only first division team with a perfect start.
They lead three teams by two points.
