John Aloisi scored in the 58th minute and Gerald Sibon with seven minutes left Sunday to give Melbourne Heart a 2-0 win over North Queensland in Australia's A-League.
The win kept the first-year club in the middle of the A-League standings, just two points behind their established Melbourne rivals, the Victory.
First-place Brisbane beat Adelaide United 1-0 in a later match Sunday.
The weekend round began Friday when the Victory scored two late goals to beat the Central Coast Mariners 2-1. Substitute Diego Ferreira and midfielder Grant Brebner scored in the final five minutes to give the Victory their fourth straight win.
On Monday, Newcastle plays Sydney and Gold Coast hosts Perth.
