All Whites striker Chris Wood scored a hat-trick to help Leicester City progress to the third round of the Capital One Cup this morning (NZT).
Wood netted a first-half equaliser against Carlisle United and scored twice more after the break, before being substituted to a rousing ovation as the Foxes ran out 5-2 winners at Brunton Park.
Leicester, who play in England's second-tier Championship, were favourites to progress against League One Carlisle, and the 21-year-old Wood made sure of that.
His first goal came after a fine solo run into the area was capped with a finish to match, before a second-half penalty was complemented by a 63rd-minute strike which made the game safe.
The Kiwi has featured in all six of Leicester's matches so far this season, starting five up front, but today marked his first goals of the new campaign. After being signed being Leicester from West Brom in January, Wood scored nine goals for the Foxes last season, including a hat-trick against Bristol City shortly after signing.
