Adelaide United surged seven points clear at the top of the Hyundai A-League after clinically disposing of the Queensland Roar 4-2 at Hindmarsh Stadium in Adelaide.
Carl Veart, Qu Shenqing and Fernando Rech scored first-half goals for the Reds after the Roar had taken an early 1-0 lead through an 11th-minute Alex Brosque strike.
Rech then doubled his tally in the 63rd minute to complete the rout before Michael Baird added a late consolation goal for Queensland.
The win lifts Adelaide to 35 points while leaving the Roar fumbling in seventh place on 18 and fast running short of matches to mount a challenge for the final four.
