BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) San Lorenzo gave away a chance to win the Argentine first-division on Sunday, settling for a 0-0 draw at home against Estudiantes.
San Lorenzo is still in good shape to take the title and leads by two points over Velez Sarsfield, Newell's and Lanus with one round to play in the first half of the season. Like many Latin American countries, Argentina divides the season into two halves and crowns two champions.
In other matches on Sunday, Lanus and Boca Juniors drew 2-2, and Gimnasia defeated Quilmes 3-2.
The draw put Boca on 28 points, eliminating the famous Buenos Aires club from contention.
The match might have turned in the 85th minute when San Lorenzo's Juan Ignacio Cavallaro was taken down in the area, but referee Pablo Lunati did not award a penalty.
