SYDNEY (AP) Local media is reporting two-time A-League winner Ange Postecoglou will be hired Wednesday as Australia's national football coach, to lead the Socceroos to next year's World Cup in Brazil.
The Australian Associated Press says the 48-year-old Postecoglou, who twice guided Brisbane to the A-League title, will lead the Socceroos for the first time in a friendly, probably against Costa Rica, in Sydney on Nov. 15.
Football Federation Australia is reportedly negotiating with Melbourne Victory, where Postecoglou is under contract. The FFA has been in the market for an Australian coach for the Socceroos the first since Frank Farina in 2005 after firing German Holger Osieck following back-to-back 6-0 losses to Brazil and France.
