LISBON, Portugal (AP) FC Porto beat Gil Vicente 2-0 at home Saturday to remain leader of the Portuguese league and the only team perfect through four rounds.
Silvestre Varela opened for the three-time defending champions in the eighth minute, and Jackson Martinez doubled the lead in the 27th. Both Porto goals came off rebounds by saves from goalkeeper Adriano Facchini.
Porto extended its undefeated streak in league play to 47 straight games.
Also on Saturday, Benfica beat Pacos Ferreira 3-1 at home with defender Ezequiel Garay scoring a double, while Guimaraes won 1-0 at Rio Ave.
Benfica hosts Anderlecht on Tuesday in their Champions League opener, and Porto visits Austria Wien the next day.
