A goalie in the German Bundesliga has apologised after sneakily scuffing the penalty spot in the lead-up to a saved penalty attempt in which the opponent slipped over.
Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz was captured by the television cameras walking up to the penalty spot and digging in his heals after the referee awarded a penalty to opponents Koln.
Koln's Anthony Modeste then slipped as he connected with the ball, sending in a low shot which Hitz saved.
Six minutes later Augsburg scored the match-winner to lift them out of the relegation zone.
Hitz reportedly apologised for his actions while Augsburg manager Markus Weinzierl said it wasn't a fair act.
