ATHENS, Greece (AP) Panathinaikos could not hold on to its early lead and ended up with a 1-1 draw at Apollon in the Greek league on Saturday.
Marcus Berg opened the scoring for Panathinaikos in the sixth minute with a volley off Nikos Karellis' cross, and Thanassis Panteliadis, who came in at halftime, equalized in the 47th with his first touch, a header off a corner kick.
The draw kept Panathinaikos in fourth place, a point behind third-place Atromitos, which drew 1-1 at Platanias, and 13 points behind league leader Olympiakos, which hosts Ergotelis on Sunday.
Apollon moved to 16th place, third from bottom, and gained its first point under new coach Lawrie Sanchez.
Also, Asteras beat Panetolikos 3-0.
