NORWICH, England (AP) Crystal Palace dropped to last place in the Premier League after losing 1-0 at Norwich on Saturday in Tony Pulis' first match in charge of the London side.
Norwich edged to a nervy win to ease the pressure on manager Chris Hughton following seven league defeats.
Gary Hooper's goal after 30 minutes proved enough to give the Canaries a much-needed victory.
Nathan Redmond was the instigator with a determined run down the right before Sweden forward Johan Elmander swept the ball into the penalty area. It dropped to Wes Hoolahan at the far post and he squared it for Hooper to roll the ball into the net.
Palace, boosted by last weekend's away win at Hull, was probably worth a point but Norwich eventually closed out victory at Carrow Road.
