CHIVAS 1, TORONTO 0
New signing Erick Torres scored the sole goal to give 10-man Chivas victory over Toronto, ending a 14-game winless streak.
It was Torres' first game for Chivas, on loan from the Mexican parent club Guadalajara.
The 20-year-old forward got a pass from Tristan Bowen in the 79th minute, cut inside against three defenders, and then fired from outside the box. The ball deflected off a defender and bounced inside the right post.
Chivas played a man short for the final 65 minutes after Eric Avila received a red card for a challenge on Darel Russell.
Toronto has won just once in its past 17 games.
Former U.S. national team captain Carlos Bocanegra made his first appearance for Chivas, returning to the U.S. league after a decade playing in Europe.
