MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) Malta captain Michael Mifsud has been signed to a one-year contract by the A-League's Melbourne Heart.
The 32-year-old striker has scored 37 goals in 99 games for Malta and also scored two goals for Coventry City to knock Manchester United out in a 2007 League Cup third-round match.
Mifsud formerly played for Maltese club Valletta, but has also played for FC Kaiserslautern and Lillestrom as well as Coventry City.
Heart head coach John Aloisi said in a statement Wednesday that Mifsud is "an exciting footballer and will be a dynamic influence in our attack."
