LIVERPOOL, England (AP) Liverpool will pay tribute to one of its most charismatic managers with a minute of applause ahead of Sunday's Premier League match against Manchester United.
Bill Shankly, who won three league titles, two FA Cups and one UEFA Cup during his 15 years at Liverpool, would have turned 100 on Sept. 2. The Scot, who is regarded as one of the greatest managers after transforming the Reds into a major European force, died in 1981 after suffering a heart attack.
Liverpool also said the club's supporters will display a special mosaic made of cards in the Kop. Several Liverpool players who worked under Shankly will also be attending the match.
