MONROVIA, Liberia (AP) Liberia Football Association President Hassan Bility has ended his public spat with the Confederation of African Football, saying he should have expressed his disagreement with rule changes internally.
Bility was the leading voice of opposition when new election rules helped longtime leader Issa Hayatou get elected for another term as CAF president. The changes allowed only members of CAF's executive committee to stand against Hayatou, who was re-elected unopposed in March. The LFA also challenged the changes with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but lost.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Bility says "I think I recognize that I shouldn't have gone public to castigate CAF."
Bility also says his six-month ban by CAF for accessing restricted documents was lifted early recently after he made a personal appeal to Hayatou.
