PARIS (AP) France center half Laurent Koscielny has been ruled out of the friendly against Australia on Friday because of a calf injury while Raphael Varane has returned to training.
Varane hurt his right knee and Koscielny has pain in his right calf, and both missed Wednesday training.
"Concerning Laurent Koscielny, it's too soon. He won't be available for tomorrow's game," France coach Didier Deschamps said on Thursday. "Varane will train normally (this evening). I followed (Real Madrid coach) Carlo Ancelotti's recommendations to take good care of him. So it was more out of precaution that he didn't train yesterday."
The uncapped Saint-Etienne defender Kurt Zouma took part in Wednesday's training after being called up as cover in defense.
France, which is in second place behind Spain in Europe Group I, plays its final World Cup qualifier against Finland on Tuesday.
