RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) Former Brazil midfielder Juninho says he will miss the rest of the year after injuring a muscle in his right leg, but remains uncertain about whether he will retire.
Juninho had said he would consider retiring depending on the seriousness of the injury. But on Tuesday he announced that he will "see how the treatment progresses before making a decision" about his career.
Juninho got injured just minutes into Vasco da Gama's match against Santos at the Maracana Stadium on Saturday.
He said that despite the injury he will remain with the team as it continues to fight to avoid relegation in the final rounds of the Brazilian league.
The former Lyon and New York Red Bulls player was in the Brazil squad at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
