NAPLES, Italy (AP) Italy's national team is showing solidarity with the country's fight against organized crime by training with a club that was re-founded after a previous version was discovered to be run by the Camorra crime syndicate.
The training session with the Nuovo Quarto club comes a day before Italy faces Armenia in its final World Cup qualifier in Naples. The Azzurri have already qualified for next year's tournament in Brazil.
About 1,000 fans, mostly children, attended the practice.
Italian football federation president Giancarlo Abete says "our presence is worth more than many words."
Local prosecutor Antonello Ardituro, who ordered the Quarto club re-assigned to a citizen group, was also in attendance. He says "we're convinced that the fight against the Camorra can't be fought just in court rooms."
