AMSTERDAM (AP) Veteran midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has dropped out of the Netherlands squad for two World Cup qualifiers after hurting his hamstring in training.
Coach Louis van Gaal called up PSV Eindhoven midfielder Adam Maher as a replacement after Van der Vaart was injured on Tuesday.
The latest setback for Van Gaal's preparations came a day after the coach summoned Wesley Sneijder to replace the injured Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Netherlands plays Estonia in Tallinn on Sept. 6 and Andorra on Sept. 10.
Van Gaal's team has won all six qualifiers so far in Europe Group D and can seal a place at next year's World Cup finals in Brazil if it wins both matches.
