LONDON (AP) Hull owner Assem Allam has infuriated the Premier League club's fans, reportedly telling them "they can die as soon as they want" after some supporters opposed his plans to change the team's name.
Allam, who took over in 2010, wants to rebrand the club as Hull Tigers in place of the existing full name of Hull City AFC.
Allam told the Independent newspaper that opposing fans "can die as soon as they want, as long as they leave the club for the majority who just want to watch good football."
The City Till We Die fans group said the comments were "unhelpful."
In the Premier League on Sunday, Hull beat Liverpool 3-1 for the first time ever with some fans chanting, "We're Hull City, we'll die when we want."
