THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) A government report says match-fixing is present in Dutch sports, but is not a widespread problem.
Four percent of 732 sportspeople who filled in a questionnaire compiled by the report's authors said they had been personally approached about fixing a match.
The results show "match-fixing is not present on a large scale in the Netherlands but it is a problem," says the report, published on Tuesday.
Sports Minister Edith Schippers says in a letter to Parliament that the government will draw up a "policy reaction" to the report shortly.
The report is based on a government-commissioned probe carried out by researchers from universities in Amsterdam and Tilburg and forensic researchers from Ernst & Young. It focused on football, tennis, horse racing, basketball and boxing.
