Veteran Irish striker Niall Quinn announced his retirement after yesterday's nailbiting loss to Spain on penalties. The 35-year-old Quinn played a key role on and off the pitch as Ireland overcame the loss of captain Roy Keane to qualify for the second round.
"I'm going out on just the right note. You might think this is a low note to go out on, but I've seen what this team are capable of and I think there are really exciting times ahead," he said.
