A 13-year-old Turkish boy committed suicide yesterday after he had a row with his father for copying the wide-stripe Mohican hairdo of Turkish football star Umit Davala.
The teenager, identified as Zafer Y, had his hair shaved on the sides after Davala propelled Turkey into the quarter-finals by scoring the single goal in their match against Japan on Tuesday.
Zafer Y's father reportedly forced the boy to go to a barber and have his remaining hair shaved off, Anatolia news agency says.
The boy then hanged himself with a belt from the window of their house in Gemlik, in the northwestern province of Bursa.
