Senegal captain Aliou Cisse is facing a race against time to be fit for his side's World Cup group A clash with Denmark on Thursday.
The centre-back, impressive in the shock 1-0 defeat of world champions France in the opening game of the tournament, hobbled out of a training session on Monday with what a team spokesman described as a calf muscle injury.
Cisse was given Tuesday off to rest along with the rest of the Senegal squad at the team's headquarters.
The spokesman said a decision on Cisse's fitness would be taken at training on Friday. He said Cisse was receiving intensive treatment and team officials were "optimistic" he would recover.
