SHIZUOKA - Striker Michael Owen will play for England in their World Cup quarter-final against Brazil, manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has announced.
Owen had earlier lifted hopes that he would play in tomorrow's clash after picking up a groin injury in their 3-0 win over Denmark on Saturday in which he scored his first goal in these finals.
"They are all fit and Michael will start," Eriksson told reporters. "He did a very good session today so, of course, that's good.
"This is a game for Michael Owen, and for the others, but Michael is waiting, waiting for the big, big game -- he's always shown that in his life."
Owen joined the rest of the squad for a rain-swept training session at the Shizuoka stadium where England will face the four-times champions.
Owen will be key to England's chances when he links up with Liverpool strike-partner Emile Heskey.
