Soccer: Outdoor screenings suspended after brawl

Outdoor screenings of World Cup matches have been suspended at Canary Wharf, London, after a mass brawl broke out as England defeated Paraguay.

Games were not shown yesterday and today and a Canary Wharf spokeswoman said the company was reviewing whether to stop them altogether.

More than 6,000 people were watching the game on a giant screen near the Jubilee line station when the violence began.

Six people were taken to hospital with minor injuries and another 10 were treated at the scene.

Police are continuing investigations into the fight, which involved up to 200 people and resulted in an abrupt end to the screening before the match had finished.

Public viewings of the England game in Manchester and Liverpool also ended with arrests.
