Assistant referee Paul Smith officiates in Japan tonight when he becomes the first New Zealand official to appear on the World Cup soccer finals stage.
Smith will make history as the first New Zealander to officiate at the World Cup finals when he takes to the sideline for the group H match between Russia and Tunisia in Kobe. The match starts at 1830 (NZ time).
Smith will also officiate in the match between Tunisia and Belgium on June 10.
