After celebrating a historic first cup victory on Sunday, the Japanese team left their dressing rooms as tidy as an army barracks at inspection time.
Fifa communications director Keith Cooper said officials had been astonished to find no mess at all in Japan's changing room after the game in Yokohama against the Russians.
"It was amazing, extraordinary. It was as if nobody had been there," Cooper said.
"Usually you find banana skins and empty bottles. But they took everything with them, down to the last wrapping paper."
