ST ETIENNE - France striker Djibril Cisse is out of the soccer World Cup after breaking his right leg in this morning's 3-1 warm-up win over China, said coach Raymond Domenech.
"He is undergoing surgery. It's a vicious blow to all of us", Domenech told reporters.
The striker was injured in a clash with a Chinese defender 10 minutes into his team's last match before they fly out to Germany on Thursday.
Cisse was taken away on a stretcher and received treatment on his right leg for several minutes before going to hospital.
The Liverpool forward was expected to start France's opening World Cup game against Switzerland in Stuttgart on Tuesday.
