The Herald on Sunday are kicking off their charity sports betting competition once again, in association with the TAB, and built around the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
We are now seeking bold readers willing to take on the might of the media in a Readers vs Media betting contest, to begin on the weekend of Sunday, June 13.
Readers interested in taking part should email us at paul.lewis@hos.co.nz with the following data, before Friday, June 4:
* Full name.
* Contact phone number, preferably a mobile so you can be raised.
* No more than two sentences on why you want to take part.
* A publishable-quality photograph of yourself.
The competition will be run from Sunday, June 13, to the end of the tournament on Sunday, July 11. There will be two teams - Andrew Alderson and Paul Lewis from the Herald on Sunday and two readers, to be selected from applications received which contain the above information.
Every week, each person will be given $50 to bet on the World Cup. At least four bets must be made every week, using up the $50. The proceeds will be totalled each week and the team who reaps the most rewards will win - and have bragging rights.
At the end of the competition, the individual with the largest winnings earns the right to stipulate which charity will benefit from the proceeds of both teams.
The reader with the largest winnings also wins a $100 hamper from Kirkcaldie & Stains, delivered anywhere in the country, courtesy of the TAB.
Be in to win - and to add extra spice to your World Cup viewing.
