Germany's shock exit from the Fifa World Cup this morning has been called a 'historical disgrace' by a local newspaper.
The World Cup defending champions finished last in group F following a stunning 2-0 defeat to South Korea today. Following an opening 1-0 defeat to Mexico, Germany finished the group stage with one win and just three points.
It is the first time since 1938, when Germany carried a Nazi flag, that the side have failed to advance to the knockout stage.
German newspaper Die Welt went with the headline 'The historical disgrace of the German national team' while Bild focussed on the fact that coach Joachim Löw is under contract until the next World Cup and that his position is untenable.
