New Zealand Soccer is better off to the tune of around $400,000 from the World Cup, without even lifting a finger.
The TAB gives a percentage of its take to the local sports body from Cup betting, which is, in this case, Soccer NZ.
Officials were expecting around $200,000, but have banked close to $400,000.
Soccer CEO Graham Seatter says the cash is a bonus and the extra money will be well spent.
Seatter says the under 17 and under 20 boys teams are off to South America in November, although those trips were subject to funding.
Now they can tick those off.
Seatter claims the other positive is more people seemed to be interested in the latest World Cup tournament
