Waitakere United lifted themselves off the bottom of the ASB Premiership on Thursday, handing leaders Hawke's Bay United their first defeat of the season with 2-1 victory at QBE Stadium.
The pace and power of Waitakere United striker Nathaniel Bowen paved the way for the come-from-behind win, the frontman earning two first half penalties for his side after they had fallen behind to Hamish Watson's sixth minute opener for Hawke's Bay.
Waitakere United captain Jake Butler and Brandon Barnes despatched both spot kicks to lift Chris Milicich's team over Southern United and the Wellington Phoenix ahead of the three remaining sixth round matches on Sunday.
Hamish Watson gave the visitors a dream start in just the sixth minute, racing clear behind the Waitakere United before cutting back from the byline and tucking the ball under returning 'keeper Danny Robinson.
Sam Mason-Smith missed a great chance to double the visitors' advantage five minutes later, scooping the ball over the cross bar from six yards after an excellent cross in behind Waitakere's retreating defence.
