WaiBop United have been docked three points and fined $2000 for fielding an ineligible player in the ASB Premiership.
New Zealand Football confirmed today that late substitute Craig Wylie was ineligible to play for WaiBop in their win over Wanderers SC in Mount Maunganui on November 22.
The organisation said WaiBop completed Wylie's transfer prior to the match but did not submit the change to their named squad of eligible players or lodge the appropriate player agreement with New Zealand Football as required under competition regulations.
That's resulted in the 3-1 victory for the hosts being turned into a 3-0 win to Wanderers - effectively the New Zealand under-20 team - while WaiBop will also be fined $2000.
The club has the right to appeal the decision.
